Pirates of the Carribbeans 4

If you want to refresh your memory, watch the awesome trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ_1ZZSNFuQ
To start with, I have to say that before I saw the trailer, I had some prejudice. I was thinking that one more Pirates was too much, that it was a try to make more money on the saga. I thought that the plot wouldn't be developted because after 3 movies, maybe the inspiration was gone and they could just use a similar plot from one of the prequels. The last point is no Will and Elizabeth? I was not really thrilled about that.
BUT it was before I randomly came across the trailer. I thought that it wouldn't hurt to check it. I don't regret I did it because it's an awesome movie after all.
Let's talk a bit about the plot. Jack Sparrow, the one and only, is after the youth fountain. Not an easy thing and lot of obstacles are on his way. He has a lot of frienenemies like Angelica (they used to be lovers and a betrayed woman is never easy to deal with), Black beard (nothing personal to take, he doesn't love anyone) and the good old Barbossa (long story). Apart from that, the road to the fountain is not easy either. You could meet some mermaids for example and before you droll, they're no paradise creatures.
I don't know if its worldwide but for my country, the movie will be available on dvd and bluray on September 18th.
Little historical point: Black beard really existed. He lived from 1680 to 1718 (mmm he looks older in the movie). He was English. His real name was Edward Teach. In 1716, he was under the orders of Benjamin Hornigold. They "worked" in the Carribbeans. After that, he got his own ship, Queen Anne's revenge (as seen in the movie). This was when he became this well known pirate he was.
Now, let's see what I liked in the movie. The plot was awesome and the realisation well done. There was a lot of action but not too much so the movie had a sense. Jack was well, Jack (kudos to Johnny Depp). This was my first movie in 3D. I didn't really know what to expect and it was a good surprise. It was like the characters were in the room with you sometimes. Another think I liked was the romantic relationship. Jack and Angelica were interesting to watch because they have history together and it's obviously not over. The question is will it ever be? I mean, Angelica is waiting something from him and to be honest, I don't think Jack will give her what she wants.
I think I fell pretty hard for Philip and Syrena (Philena?).
Philip and Syrena

Here a really cute vid about them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aDJmC3-B9s
Who would ever thought they would met? The situation is the following. Philip was a preacher man (I think) before he was forcefully enroled on the Queen Anne's revenge.
Syrena is a mermaid who lives around some sort of island. The possibility was under 20% I'd say but it happened. In my opinion, it was love at first sight. Their love is so pure, so deep, so beautiful that I find it hard not to like them together. They love each other because they're both different from their own kind. Philip is not a heartless man and Syrena is not a blood thirsty mermaid. For their last scene, I had a little doubt about what happened. Then I remembered what one of the pirates said. If a mermaid kisses you, you can breathe or live underwater, something like that. This means they're both alive and happy (yay!).
One thing for sure is I can't wait for the dvd!
Beastly: a book and a movie
You all know The beauty and the beast. The story of this heartless prince who thought physical beauty was everything. And one day, a fairy or was it a witch (?) punished him by turning him into a monster. He had to find love if he wants to turn back into a human.
Alex Flinn wrote a modern version of it called Beastly. The plot is basically the same. Kyle thinks that he's so hot and ugly people should hide. Unfortunatly (or furtunatly) for him, he pissed off a witch. When you do so, it's more likely that she is going to cast a spell on you. And she did. To break the course, he has to find love.
I read the book (if you didn't, you should) and I loved it. This was well written and I think it is accurate because nowadays, people spend much time thinking of appearance. Too much in my opinion. Society pressures you to look perfect and thin. Just so you know, appearance is not everything you have. You can see it as a present. Your appearance is the paper and when you open it, imagine it's empty? Gah, it sounded so much better in my head. I hope you get the big idea.
Anyway, I was not the only one you loved the book because they made a movie out of it. Staring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens. I watched the movie as well and I loved it.
Now, how about a comparison between the book and the movie?
Paragraph. Cliquez ici pour modifier.
I should start by saying that in the book, all is written in Kyle's pov. In the movie, there no off voice at any moment.
In the book, Kyle actually looks like a beast. I'm talking about fur and claws. To imagine it better, I think you can think about the beast in the Walt Disney version. In Beastly, it's not the case. As you can see in the image, it's being bald and having weird lines on the face and head. One thing that was added in the movie and I really liked it is the tree tattoo on his forearm. It was cool to see it move and change with time.
His name was changed. I mean in the book, Kyle changed his name to Adrian. However, in the movie, he chose Hunter. I don't know why they changed and I don't really like that name. Adrian is beautiful while Hunter is kinda bleh.
About Lindy. In the book, she's a red hair girl with green/gray eyes. That's so Vanessa Hudgens, don't you think? :P
Since it's an adaptation, they couldn't do it exactly like in the book. For example, I think that Kyle and Mindy actually met halfway in the book. It would have been too long for the movie so they made them meet in the first minutes. A similar thing happened in the second Narnia if you saw it.
They also tamed some characters. In the book, Sloane (Kyle's girlfriend at the beginning) is a bitch with a capital B. But in the movie, she's just plain and not really mean.
In the book, Lindy's father is a druggie who sold her daughter in a split of a second. In the movie, he's still a druggie but he actually want to protect her.
I wished they had kept a scene I loved that happened in the book. Lindy was in danger and Kyle had to take the subway in order to rescue her. But when people saw him, they were not willing to let him live. He had to fight his way out. They didn't keep that scene in the movie and it's too bad. Don't get me wrong, the end of the movie was sweet but that scene would have been epic.
They also should have kept the fact that Magda was Kendra (the witch) in the book. I don't understand why they didn't.
Well, I think it's all I have to say. Leave a comment in the yt box if you want to add something.
Albi: an episcopal city
Paragraph. Cliquez ici pour modifier.
I decided to write an article about the city I live in. The name is Albi and it's in the south of France. It was classified by the Unesco last summer. Which means it is now part of the patrimony of the humanity. Nothing to be prouder :D
The name of the town might come from the latin "albus", white in Latin. That can be explained by the white hills surrounding the town. My town is ancient because it already existed in the Middle ages. The historical heart is very beautiful and you should come visit it. If at the end of this article, you're not convinced, well I don't know what to do.

Isn't it impressive? Imagine yourself at the bottom of it. You would feel the weight of History. The construction of this monument was long. About 2 centuries. It is the world largest brick cathedral. The decision to build it was made by the bishop Bernard de Castanet. The architecture is gothic. The inside is entirely painted.
Paragraph. Cliquez ici pour modifier.
You can see this beautiful painting in the cathedral. It was done between 1474 and 1484. It is the largest medieval representation of that topic. The scene is divided in 3 levels. You have the sky/heaven at the top, then earth in the middle and at the bottom, hell. Hell is represented by the 7 deadly sins.
In the 18th century, an organ was added by Christophe Moucherel.

Here the story about the name of the cathedral. Sainte Cécile was a christian woman who lived in Rome. She made the wish to stay a virgin. She got married and tried to make her husband believe in God too. At the end, she was condemned and got her head chopped off with an ax. But her killer was not really efficient because he had to try 3 times and yet, she died 3 days later.
There's a very lively statue that you can see in the cathedral.

Now that you have seen this, let's talk about the Palais de la Berbie (it means palace, kinda). "Berbie" comes from the old word "bisbia" (bishop). It was built to show off the power of the bishops. I forgot to mention that Albi used to be a high place of Catharism until the Catholic church beat them. So in sign of victory, they built the palace and the cathedral. The palace was reorganized by the bishop Louis d'Amboise in the Renaissance period. He made it more comfortable to live in. Nowadays, it is turned into a museum dedicated to Toulouse Lautrec's paintings. You should know that the artist was born in town at the hôtel Du bosc.
Paragraph. Cliquez ici pour modifier.
Among other monuments you can see, there's the Saint Salvy collegiate. It was dedicated to the first bishop of Albi named Saint Salvy (hence the name). Two main parts: the church and the cloister. You can see 2 stages of construction for the church. A first part was made in stones (roman period). Then they needed more room and they added a part in bricks (gothic period). The cloister was built in 1270. You'll also notice roman and gothic elements in this part.

When you have done that, you can walk around the streets of the old Alby and even cross the old bridge to access another old neighborhood. Just for you to know, the old bridge was built in 1040.

If you have some energy left, you can visit the Lapérouse museum. Lapérouse was an explorer, he discovered Australia for example. In the museum you can see exhibitions about his travels and sea life in general.
